HISTORY
Dirk Swain: Son, Brother, Friend...Hero
The Dirk Swain Foundation was created in 2009, in remembrance of Dirk Swain, one of the nine victims of the crowd disaster at a New York City celebrity basketball event in 1991.
Turning their devastating loss into a positive experience, Dirk's brother, DSF Co-Founder Jason Swain, along with his parents and Co-Founders Barbara and James Swain, created The Dirk Swain Foundation.
The Foundation established a platform to honor their beloved son, brother, and friend, Dirk Swain, by providing youth with an opportunity to learn the life skills and self-determination that Dirk exemplified.
The DSF gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams. I never thought I would be on real film sets and working with professionals while still a student in high-school. But, I have and the training I received will stay with me for life.
